Basic Arpeggio PDFs

Yes I get the same thing on Chrome for Mac OS. I don't know if this happens for you but when I hover my mouse over the the bottom right hand corner of the PDF a series of icons comes up:


Clicking on the one on the left hand side resizes it to fit:

I think it's only natural to want to dive in at the deep end, and fine as long as you don't pick up any bad habits - sloppy playing being the most obvious pitfall. You seem to know what you need to do as far as the basics are concerned so you should be ok.
