While i am certan i will approach my new book with my customary enthusiasm for something new, i am also certain thatbif there is a cd that has them on it i will listen, pick out the phrases i like and work away.
I have a huge stack of books and transcriptions that are mostly unused.
I really enjoy the company of fellow gj travellers.
I feel before being accepted into this fraternity i should confess, as well as sax and guitar, i have a dark side..... I also play dobro
The Magic really starts to happen when you can play it with your eyes closed

Jeezus, Jay! if I'd known you played dobro, I'd have never let you into my home!
I think I was one of the first few to grab the second (and third!) Givone books, and there are some great ideas in it.
I've never been a guitar player, but I've played one on stage.
Dobro, eh?... hmmm... we might need to re-think this thing, Jay... :?:

PS OK, confession is supposed to be good for the soul...
So, upon reflection, being a plectrum banjoist myself, I guess I'm in no position to cast the first stone, even at dobro players, accordionists, yodellers or players of the musical saw...
Paul Cezanne: "I could paint for a thousand years without stopping and I would still feel as though I knew nothing."
Edgar Degas: "Only when he no longer knows what he is doing does the painter do good things.... To draw, you must close your eyes and sing."
Georges Braque: "In art there is only one thing that counts: the bit that can’t be explained."
