Clip-on Mic

I want to buy a microphone or pickup for my guitar. I was wondering about these clip on mics. I tried one and my tone was actually quite nice. has anyone used them as well? The only problem for me was that the clip itself is jagged like so it can hurt the wood. does anyone know what to do about that? do they sell clips without jagged edge? Can I stick the microphone on with tape or would it also spoil the wood?
