    Hey Maca,

Not real sure, I havn't tried to load a WHOLE BOOK that is one file in the above program.
All the PDF's are single scores.

I would think it would be like having a semi loaded with things and it would take quite a while to get to something in the front. I havn't tried that yet I know with adobe you can type the page at the top you want to go to.

Be good to see what someone else has come up with,

As was mentioned in previous post:

    Looks like iGigBook works:
iGigBook ties it all together; real books, fake books, tranposing chord charts, and single sheets.
All of it at your fingertips, in real time, on any gig.

iGigBook does have the ability to index large PDF files. There are a number of indexes available for common books, although you have to actually own the PDF of book itself. The site says, "GigBook has over 60 popular Jazz Fake Books and Real Books indexed for you and ready to go, just add your book and find what you need in seconds." Fortunately for us, the Django Fakebook, which is free, is one of them! It also features transposing chord charts, much like irealb. You can create your own index to any PDF file, but the process is rather cumbersome, as is a lot of the other functionality. The host interface, for instance, is clunky and looks like an MS-DOS application, and set list management in general could be much improved.

A strength of iGigBook is the ability to pull charts into a set list from any indexed book. So if you have a number of books that you use for your set lists, you can simply bring up a list of all occurrences, say, of "All of Me" and pick the one you want for inclusion in the list. All of our charts are individual PDFs, mostly created in Sibelius, and for our purposes the set list management of forScore ($6.99) was much better, especially given its integration of Dropbox and ease of set list creation and distribution: http://www.forscoreapp.com. However, it has no ability to index books, so if that's what you need, iGigBook would be your best bet.

If anyone is using a Mac you can go to a song or chart in a Fakebook,

    1) Get it as large on your desktop as you can.

    2) press command, shift, and 4 at the same time. This will give you a curser & you can capture just the song in the area. When you let go of the mouse it takes a picture of just that area and leaves it on
    your desktop.

    3) When you click on the image it will open in PREVIEW. Go up to file and open the print window. In the
bottom left side it will say PDF click on that and choose save as PDF. Here's where you choose a name, and directory so you will have somewhere you can find it.

    I created a folder Django Fakebook 2008
each song was named DFB - *. Like DFB -All of Me, DFB - Avalon etc.

This way you can just do the songs you want in separate files.
You may want to make a folder on your desktop to place the image files in once their saved as PDF's.
This will keep your desktop cleaned up.

    Good Luck

At a loss for you windows folks, Sorry :(

Another way of doing that on a Mac:
    - open the fakebook in Preview, turn to the page you want, note the page number
    - go to File, Print, specify the page number (numbers, if it's a two-pager or more); make sure the desired page is showing in the preview
    - choose PDF, Save as PDF, name the file, Save.

On Windows the standard PDF reader would be Adobe Reader, which doesn't directly output to PDF as far as I know, but you can get a PDF print driver like Primo PDF to do the same thing.
