A short exam for your fingers for the tonic and dom7 forms...
1) Set up Band-In-A-Box to play rhythm changes.
2) Then transpose it to a weird key like B or F#.
3) Do your best to follow the changes without looking at your fingers.
You'll quickly find out which fingerings come fairly automatically to you, and which don't!
If you're like me, the C, E and G shapes come pretty easily, the A and D shapes less so.. especially the D shape, that's the one I've really gotta pound into my head.
I keep trying to remind myself, this is supposed to be FUN!
(And it actually is--- using it AFTER I've learned it!)

Paul Cezanne: "I could paint for a thousand years without stopping and I would still feel as though I knew nothing."
Edgar Degas: "Only when he no longer knows what he is doing does the painter do good things.... To draw, you must close your eyes and sing."
Georges Braque: "In art there is only one thing that counts: the bit that can’t be explained."
