New to gypsy. Need advice on books and dvds

Denis Chang's videos and Michael's Gypsy Picking book. Marry that with gypsyjazzschool.com
Learn songs first using the picking technique and then start learning solos. There are many free transcriptions out there, but Blues Mineur and Minor Swing are good starts.

I have, and I highly recommend the whole set - Art of Accompaniment and the whole 4 CD improv series. The ones with Wawau and Stochelo would be excellent additions later after you've worked your way through the instructional set. Also, Michael's Gypsy Rhythm.

Be forewarned - it will take a while to digest! There is an unbelievable wealth of material in Denis' videos. They seem pricey until you learn just how much there is to take in. Private lessons of that breadth and depth would cost you many times more, and you wouldn't be able to go back and rerun them. Take your time and master the skills. You won't regret it.
