... i do a fair share of acts, including fire-eating (although i have not learned fire-breathing yet), glass-eating, bed of nails, bed of glass, and other pain-proof acts, such as the staple act. it's an art i hold near and dear ot my heart, ...
 Ouch!! Now you are beginning to frighten me!
I'm glad your friend is interested in making an album of Django standards. But again, I choose to support artists that I know who produce brilliant work and give back to this community. I don't know you or any of your friends and so I don't feel compelled to freely give to you or your friends what my friends are willing to work and save and sacrifice toward. How you feel about that is up to you.
So anyway, welcome to the Djangobooks forum. Come in, sit a while, get to know some people. Invite your friends to do the same. We are not your ticket to quick money, but the variety and level of talent of the players who hang out here is beyond amazing. If your friends are genuinely interested in this genre of music, they will find friendship and inspiration and educational material and even opportunities to study online and find out about events where they can meet and study with some of the greatest living gypsy jazz players -- and it is absolutely the most welcoming online community I've ever seen. But if you're just here to rake up some quick cash for a recording project, you're likely to be disappointed because we're all trying to do that too - and most of us are doing it the old fashioned way - by emptying out the tip jar at the end of the night and putting it in a coffee can labeled "CD project"
You get one chance to enjoy this day, but if you're doing it right, that's enough.
The players do support this community and the efforts that come out of it. I'm sure if you look around here, you'll see that it is a generous group with knowledge, with helping to find gigs and spreading the word on gigs, with the newest and latest records that have come out by the players in the scene, by buying their lesson books or taking lessons or supporting their online academies.
Good luck on your endeavor. I hope the comes out great and that these folks will become a regular part of this community...not just the forum, but the community at large.
