Hi all
I discovered Patrick Fremaux's wonderful "Les Freres Ferret" CD set six months ago, and have been playing Disc 1 continuously ever since!
I really love Sarane's phrasing and licks (especially on the Trio's versions of the waltzes, Wind and Strings, Miami, & Swing Star) but have been able to find any grilles or tabs out there.
I'd be grateful for your help in finding any of the above material
I was also wondering if there are any film clips of the Trio Ferret playing live which could help me transcribe their tunes; or any recordings by the Ferrets which are not featured on the CD set which I should seek out to add to my collection.
Many thanks in anticipation
Dave

There were a couple of transcriptions on a French site which you could search for but the solos are mercifully simple, so I would suggest by ear is best.
Best Ray.
There is a good collection of Sarrane's recordings on ILD. Matelot Ferret's "Tziganskaia" and Baro's "Swing Valses" are still available on Hot Club Records. These contain music not on the Fremeaux collection. Most of Baro's recordings are available as he did not record much. A lot of Sarrane's recordings are still not available. Same with Matelot - most of his recordings from the 50s and 60s are still unissued. There is some video of the Ferrets on youtube.
I agree with Ray - Sarrane's solos are not especially difficult and should be pretty easy to transcribe.
About half of CD1 are either Jazz standards or Gypsy standards.
Will definitely check out the other recordings that you've recommended.
Thanks for the link to the info site too Ray - some great photos there.
I agree that picking out the notes in most of the solos isn't too difficult (though the waltzes have got a few pretty scary runs!); but I'm looking for some guidance on the precise LH fingerings and RH picking technique which Baro/Sarane used to get their great phrasing.
I like Sarane's use of glissando too - e.g. on "Deux Guitarres".
@JoliGadjo: Many thanks for the kind offer of lead sheets - please could you post on the forum or PM me? That would be great!
Best wishes
Dave
