The lick Andreas wrote out uses a pull off for rhythmic effect more then anything else. But the pull off also helps when playing it really fast.

In the Gypsy Picking book on p.56, that's an example of using pull offs to gain speed. At slower tempos I just pick all the notes.

    Hi Patrick
I personally do the pull-offs when I play at slower tempos as well, but as Michael said, you can pick them if you like. The effect of the pull-offs are more visible when playing faster tempos.

I hear the difference when I listen to Stochelo/Jimmy vs. Fapy.
Sometimes they are using a simular vocabulary but Fapy is picking all the notes where Stochelo and Jimmy does the pull-offs. Both way works, just a different sound and some different accents.

    All the best
    Andreas

Thank you guys: that's much clearer ! Sorry for all these questions but I am a brain-oriented kind of player and can only play what makes good intellectual sense. After, and only then, it flows great to my fingers.

    Take care,

    Patrick.
