El Quinteto Swing Hot de Chile, featuring Luis Silva and Hernan Oliva: are any recordings commercially available? They recorded a few sides in the early '40s but I don't know if they've ever been reissued.

I've never heard of these being rereleased. I think I have some if not all of these recordings somewhere, I remember Oliva and Silva as being particularly sophisticated players. There is some kind of interesting story about Hernan Oliva - he passed away playing his fiddle on a park bench in BA, something like that.

I think many of these recordings are on youtube. I have pretty good notes on the recordings I got from Latin America back in the early 90s, I'll see what I can find.
