any insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks
Try to find some recent videos of Stephane & Roy and see where they're placing their Ischells. They're getting a wonderful sound and their challenge with having Drums, percussion & Bass on stage with them is... well man, I don't know of a more challenging amplification problem than putting acoustic guitars in front of a percussion section without using some kind of drum cage or acoustic wall as you often see in big symphonic orchestras who have the luxury of large fixed stage equipment that doesn't have to be broken down and put in a tour van or airplane cargo-hold every night. Anyway, it looks like the transducer is in front of the bridge on the bass side. In general, you want an area with a lot of support, so directly over top of a brace, or from the looks of it in this case, over top of the intersection of the brace and the bridge tonebar. People tend to put pickups on open spaces (between braces) because those areas sound so live & fat when you're couch strumming. But when you get on a stage, you're just begging for wolf-tones & room-modes & such if your pickup is situated where there is no mass to back it up. Pick a place on the soundboard where you have brace mass and you like the general characteristics of the attack and decay, and then EQ to suit your taste. If you do it that way, things will be a lot less likely to turn to worms in an actual gig situation.
Here's one from a festival in Chartrettes a few weeks ago. It looks like they have a similar placement.
