pick grip pressure and dynamic

I have been working on this book for about a month now and last night it hit me.
I can change the dynamic by just changing the pressure on the pick.
When I want make it sound soft just ease the pressure on the thumb and let the pick flop over the
string. Or push through the string with a little firmer grip to play harder. But always with same
steady stroke

I started doing the practice with constantly changing pick pressure.

Any thought?

Yes, that is true. You can get a more aggressive tone and greater volume with a firmer grip and I think most players do that when needed. But be careful not to tense up too much as then you will fatigue easily and loose speed and accuracy.

You can also get more volume with a more relaxed, but bigger stroke.

    Good luck!

  • Speed of attack will also create more volume. Speed is actually the best as the force imparted is the square of the velocity and the attck is sharper.

Speed comes from a loose hand. Te more the muscles tense the more you slow down.
The Magic really starts to happen when you can play it with your eyes closed
