Here's a work in progress, what do you think?

Totally legit IMHO especially if there is another rhythm player (or, conversly, if there is only you and say a violin player).

Be careful not to step on the bass player with your bass lines though I guess (not that I've ever tried that style).

I think Bireli will throw this kind of thing in for part of a chorus sometimes for effect but can't think of any examples right off the top of my head.
  • Its a great technique.. Django used to do a lot of that when he was playing rhythm. It looks to me as if you are a bit stiff in the wrist .... If thatbis in fact correct ..... Practice a few minutes a day at being really sloppy in the wrist not worrying or thinking about note accuracy. After a few days when your wrist is really relaxed when being sloppy, note how your wrist is feeling and rate it for stiffness on a scale from 1 really relaxed to 10 rigid. Then play the rhythm correctly and at some point conciously note how your wrist is feeling and rate it....dont change it just make a concious note.

Repeat this process until you are completely relaxed in the style. Wont take long. And dont conciously try to relax your wrist except wehn playing really really sloppy...like goofy overdo it ....let your subconscious do that part, just make a mental note of rating your wrist relaxation on the scale when playing properly.
The Magic really starts to happen when you can play it with your eyes closed

Your right, my right hand is a bit stiff towards the middle and end of that intro.

    Thanks for the advice!!

Thanks Hot Tin, I'm still working on this to try and get it a little bit smoother.

Heading back to Django in June this year?
