Which bridge for gitane D-500

Okay, was going to try shimming, but I think I'll just get a Dupont bridge. I'm sure this question has been answered here before, but . . .
Which dupont bridge should I get for my gitane in order to make the action somewhere between 3.5 - 4mm?

Well, you'll get differing opinions on this. I bought all three, and even the shortest (1) had to be filed down quite a bit. 4mms also a bit high for my taste. 3 to 3 1/2 is how mine are set up.

As Drolling suggested, there are other opinions, simply based on indivual preferences. With my Gitane D-500, I found that the #1 and #2 bridges were just a bit too low. The #2 was very close to what I wanted until I straighted the neck with the truss rod adjustment allen wrench. At that point, it was a tad too low for the tone, punch and volume that I wanted.
I play with a Wegen Fatone 5 mm pick, and use Argentine light strings, by the way.

I found that sanding the #3 down quite a bit worked out best for me. You might want to try the #2 as it was the closest without all the fuss. Remember, there may be individual differences in the guitars as well.

I 2nd the #2. I used to have a D-500 (cool guitar) and that is what I ended up with. The #1 was too low but the 2 was great for me.

I would be happy to order on-line; if someone could let me know the URL I'd be grateful. Apologies if this is common knowledge on the forum, but I'm new here!

Here are sources I know of:

    http://gypsyguitar.de/shop/index.htm

(Go to menu item "07 Zubehor" and then choose "bridges")

    http://gypsyguitars.com/accessories.php

I think these next ones are Dell'Arte bridges, not Dupont and note they are made of ebony -- I'd rather have rosewood or "ebonized rosewood):

    Note on Ebony bridges:

For the D-500 I would not order an Ebony bridge. Go with Rosewood (Dupont). You can get them "ebonized" so they are black but they are still rosewood. Your best bet is gypsyguitrs.com I know that Jacques is out of the country right now but will be back soon so you won't be able to place an order until then.
