Thicker Argentine strings for the D-500?

I've got the Argentine .10 gauge strings on my new Gitane D-500 and the sound is pretty mellow (a nice bossa nova sound!). Would the thicker .11 strings offset some of the warm and lose sound inherent in the shorter-neck D-500 and give me a bit more punch?

it would give you a couple pounds more tension... about 5% or so more tension... thats what I would do ....

Oh yes. The 11s are ideal for the short scale guitars. You will get better tone, more volume & projection.

    Go for it.

Thanks for your help. I just ordered the .11. Will they lower my action noticeably compared with the .10s?

If anything, .11s will raise your action...

Come to think of it, my question was pretty silly. Of course tauter strings will be further from the frets and the thickness doesn't matter because strings rest on the bridge and nut at their "bottom", not their middle.
