Hi, I've created a facebook page for Gypsy jazz musicians located in and around the lower mainland. The group has been active for a day and already has 30+ members with a lot of local footage, music, and photos being uploaded.
The purpose of the page is to document the local scene, promote Gypsy jazz related gigs, and to network with other like-minded people. I'm definitely not restricting this to guitar players either - other instruments and even enthusiasts/non-musicians are welcome to join!
Please contact me if you would like to upload some material. Unfortunately you need admin privileges to upload and I'm only willing to give it out to a few people at the moment, for organization's sake. I'll have to upload for you in the meantime.
Finally, please spread the word! There's a very vibrant and healthy scene here but it seems like we don't have much of a presence in the Gypsy jazz community. I'm sure the members would love to meet all of you who are hiding in the woodworks! Vancouver's been long overdue for something like this.
