Just for something different I did an arrangement of this Tad Dameron bebop tune.

I picked this one because I have always liked the melody and also the tempo (about 195) is not completely out of reach.

It's based on the changes (sort of) of What Is This Thing Called Love by Cole Porter. I've noted the chord changes that Tad Dameron used which have extensions of the 7th chords.

Typical of bebop, the DOMINANT 7th chords in the melody use ALL the altered tones (b9, #9, 4, b5, #5 in addition to the normal 9, 3, 5, 6 and b7. The bebop guys were particularly fond of the b5.

Here's Dizzy and Bird:

I didn't notate the 'trills' that they use since I couldn't necessarily find a good fingering for them on the guitar. Although they may be possible, I dumbed it down a bit to make it more doable for my limited abilities.

I couldn't find a playalong online so I'll try to make one myself but I STILL have not figured out how to do any recording with the computer. I was getting set up to do it on my kids Mac but it died (supposedly the 'logic board') so I need to wait until we get it fixed. The Apple store wants $700 to fix it so we need to look around to see if we can get it done cheaper.
