Thanks! The author, Shawn Persinger, chose Gypsy Rhythm as he felt it was unique in it's detailed focus on accompaniment techniques. Although, Gypsy Picking has arguably been more influential as the rest-stroke picking technique is so essential to this style and, when it was published, was mostly unknown outside of the Gypsy communities.

I stand corrected, that's great. I'm actually practicing with GR this morning :)

It's quite a huge tome; I'm lucky have a big steel music stand. I'm not surprised it made that list at all. Gypsy Picking should be there as well. Were there any other GJ books on that list? I guess I should get that book.

Being a boy on the Canadian Prairies without access to a campfire surrounded by Guitars and Caravans (and Gypsies), studying this book is the next best thing to developing some solid skills.

I actually have Vol 2 and 3 sitting on my hard drive, another 200 more pages of Rhythm stuff. One day I'll actually get it printed...

Mine is the only Gypsy jazz book, but there are many books on other jazz styles, latin genres, and flamenco that are mentioned.
