Just a little composition/improvisation I did today. Hope some of you like it. It's named after my new camera, on which it was recorded :)

For those with an interest in such things, the audio was recorded through a Cascade Fathead II ribbon mic, and a Warm Audio WA12 preamp into a Apogee Duet 2 interface and then to Reaper, then combined with the video from the camera in iMovie.

Guitar is 1979 Favino.

Great sounding guitar and great sounding player!

As a fellow owner of a JP Favino guitar, I have to say that IMO, JP is the greatest luthier of Gypsy guitars, ever.

It is nice to hear someone use a Gypsy guitar to play beautiful music, rather that a well practiced étude at high speed.

Keep up the good work Jon!

    Cheers,

    Marc

Fantastic work, Jon - really - fantastic work!
You get one chance to enjoy this day, but if you're doing it right, that's enough.

My hat's off to you again Jon. Very beautiful piece. Its only a matter of time, you know, before someone asks for the tab/chords. I say let them use their eyes, ears and heart to figure it out... Great job my friend! AE

Nice improv! I love Favinos. I have a copy by Dell Arte(The Jimmy Rosenberg model) which sounds great. But the real thing that you're playing is just otherwordly...

Your guitar sounds beautiful. It has that nasal quality and bite to it that I really love with these guitars. Many players go for the mellow, sweet sounds these days, which is good too. But if you ask me, the quintessential gypsy jazz tone is that nasal bark and bite that you get from Favino and Selmers. I've heard some great sounding MJLs and DuPonts too that manage to capture that quality.
