Where was the Club St. Germain? I'm hoping to go to Paris again soon and want to do some Django-related sight seeing. I realise the club won't be there now, but I wouldn't mind finding the location.

What a sad way for a man in in his 50's to spend his spare time....

Au contraire, mon frère - c'est une façon idéale de passer votre temps libre. Vive le rêve Bohème!

Bless you, you are a gentleman!

I was in Paris just before Christmas and my wife and I both loved it (she was even happy to be dragged up to Jacques Tati's home).

I could just imagine myself as a jobbing guitarist in the 1930's as we walked around Montmartre.

    Ah, dream on....

Have fun, Spalo! Hope to do the same within the next couple of years.

  • The Club Saint-Germain was located at 13 rue Saint-Benoît in the 6e arrondissement de Paris.
The building of the defunct Club Saint-Germain was home to the supper club Bilboquet, although that may have closed (2005 ?).

Try the Hôtel Crystal in Saint-Germain where Django apparently stayed when he was playing at Club Saint Germain. When I went there several years ago, the receptionist was happy to talk about Django and showed us where his room had been. Not sure how true the story was but I still enjoyed hearing about him and imagining him there. - Now that is quite sad!
