Lessons in Paris

Hey everyone,

I'm going to be in Paris for a week after Samois this year, and want to try to get some lessons. I tried to get in touch with Samy Daussat last time I was there to no avail, but will try again. Also, I'd love to be able to get an hour with Romane. I see that he does workshops, but not sure if he does the one-off private thing. Would dearly love to get in touch with him, but have no leads. Does anyone have any ideas?

I'd also like to maybe see Serge Krief, if he's teaching. Any others people would recommend? What I'm really most into is "traditional" gypsy stuff, and learning to speak that musical language - not so much the new stuff and Benson :)

    Hi Jon,
I believe Samy Daussat is doing a master class at Atelier de Charonne in June with none other than David Reinhardt. Check out his FB page (Cours de guitare jazz manouche) for more details. That might also be a better way to get in touch with him, he seems to be pretty active on FB.

    Have fun in my hometown!

Jon, can I ask a favor? If you do get in touch with Samy and end up studying with him, would you mind posting some of your experience here? I'm brewing a plan over the next year or so that involves a long stay in France, and Samy is on my radar...I'd love to hear your experience, if you wouldn't mind.

    Many thanks,

    Paul

Dennis, that's so kind of you - that would be fantastic! Thanks so much. Will be in touch.

Wim, my only fear is that after a week piled into this little tent at Samoreau, we may never want to speak to each other ever again :)
