That's the type of gypsy jazz I really love, when there's 2 or more lead guitar players and the guys are bouncing ideas off eachother and communicating on the spot like that, trading ideas back and forth, developing on them and you can just hear the mutual inspiration. romane and stochelo is a good example. Anyway I want to see more vids of A. Boyer in a djam like that where he's comfortable enough to really flow !

Antoine did this exact thing with Gonzalo at Django in June last year. They played together (just the two of them) for something like three hours in one of the dorm lobbies. It was amazing. I agree -- he should do more of this, and record some as well!

  • I started to write a post saying the same thing Adrian said. GB and Antoine were really loose. It was really great to watch.

Somebody help me out here ... A few months ago Dennis Chang posted via facebook a youtube video of a very young Asian boy (I'm guessing he was about 9 or 10 if I remember correctly) absolutely DESTROYING a NON accompanied version of All of me in a talent show or something.

This kid SHREDDED it, with skill, passion and panache.

Dennis, Do you remember the video, and if so, who is this kid ?

Xavier Vayre, Gwen Cahue, Remi Harris, Antoine Boyer, Amati Schmitt...

These guys are real young players, I'm 30 years, even if I began GJ in 2008 I'm not that young!!! I play guitar since I'm 12 :D but thank you for having noticed my album Wim ;-)

The Samois Film Orchestra with Xavier, Remi and Stian !!! they'll play tomorrow at the Samois festival ! :D
And of course the composer of this band, Bar Zalel, played with all these guys allready they are all great guitar players !

I too would like to hear Antoine Boyer with some other instrumentalists, for the interplay between musicians - particularly with violin, accordion, or other non-guitar players.

Does anyone know of any available recordings by Michael Gimenez, Gwen Cahue, Romain Vuillemin, or Bastien Ribot?

Actually I hadn't googled for Ribot recordings - it looks like he has some.

Mika released a cd in 2013 with claudius dupont and david gastine and bastien ribot and corentin giniaux as guests, he should have come to Dij in 2012 but I think there a problem with the Visa ...

Bastien sorted some albums with Rp quartet, Edouard Pennes on guitar is huge ! And on is own, Basti Ribot quartet but it's not GJ style, soon will be released the second one of RP quartet, great album !

Gwen recorded with Mathias Guery but they did not released the record finally... He's working with Ghali Hadefi (selmer 607) on a new project with other's prodigies of GJ , the project is all arpund ghali's doublebass, and he invites guitar players to play with him, only duets, very nice duets :D

Romain Vuillemin plays with the singr Barbie Camion and another great guitar player, Emile Mélenchon, no album at this time.

You also can check Remi Oswald for the rythm guitar, he plays more and more with great soloist, in the footsteps of Mathieu Chatelain ;-)

I met another great GJ player in Liberchies, Christophe Astoffli, who's elder, but he really improvises(if you see what I mean), he, in the footsteps of Django :D
