High String Comping

Anyone know of a guide to high string comping in swing jazz or gypsy jazz? I'm trying to incorporate more of this into my playing. I hear Django doing it all the time, especially when playing rhythm. We all know the diminished thing up and down, but otherwise, this isn't the stuff that gets transcribed or mentioned. I've been doing some on my own, but is there a reference on this already?

    Hi Craig,

I transcribed lots of Django's 4 string comping in the Gypsy Rhythm book and there's also an entire chord dictionary of 3 and 4 note chords in the back. Also, a lot of the Unaccompanied Django transcriptions consist of extended passages that Django did using 3 or 4 note chords. That should help...

It's actually all done, sitting on my hard drive. I just need time to make the CD and edit it. When that will happen I can't say, thanks for the interest!
