some pics of my 'new' 1940s Rene Gerome - it's currently in at a local luthier for some work on a lightly sunken top, the plan is to re-arch and add some Selmer-Mac style H bracing under the bridge...

It was playing quite well, when I imported it, and cost me £450 [ $US 600 ]

  • Sweet Is that a pick guard or a decorative inlay

these Gerome's originally had an inset and inlaid pick-guard with floral motif, seems like it was all flush/level with the top, as opposed to raised above it. Mine has been replaced with wood, here's an original, complete with peeling flower-heads ;-) gerome%20pickguard%20c.u.%202.jpg

I'd love to recreate something like this ,one day, for mine.
    Not sure how, though.

another Gerome with pickguard, I'm convinced that later i.e. 1950s Geromes had the more elaborate edge and soundhole binding & neck markers.

where i'd go to spot interesting or old guitares [and saxophones etc too ]:
    1/ classified ad listing sites:
    https://www.leboncoin.fr/ or https://www.zikinf.com/annonces/
2/ http://www.ebay.fr/ - often instruments listed on the French site you will never see via ebay-com or eBay-co-uk
3/ Auction listing sites - estate & specialist sales etc : best i have found is : http://www.auction.fr/ [check some of the previously sold guitars - nice]
4/ French GJ forums - start over at http://guitarejazzmanouche.com/forum/ [look under petites annonces ‹ matos]

    Bon Chance....
