I was researching Django tunes on Youtube and references to the video game Bioshock kept coming up. Turns out there are lots of users of this video game getting turned on to gypsy jazz because the music is in it. Wild. What's weird is the game is a first person shooter set in a 1960 sci-fi situation. Lots of recordings are used for the splash screens in-between game play.

I played this game a while ago, a total classic that has been out for a long time. I think the opening sequence is Bobby Darin's Beyond the Sea. I don't remember anything specifically GJ about it, but it certainly is very period to the early 50's. Readers of Ayn Rand might enjoy it.

It happened through the Mafia games as well. Those had Django tunes in them.

At first it was annoying to see the YouTube comments on Django tunes where people say it's from Mafia when in fact it's from Django and he is the one to be credited. But then I thought whatever way the music can reach out is fine. More people discovering Djangos music is good even through such unorthodox means.

If it can get the kids away from the playstations for a while and on to playing Djangos music, that's great, even if only a fraction end up wanting to play it and for the rest it is just a fleeting fascination.

I'm watchin' Road to Perdition and I ain't hearing nuttin' but sappy strings and all dat. Makes me want to go shoot some rats by the dumpster.
