Hi everyone,
I just found out about this lovely forum, it's really quite helpful!
Short introduction: Patrick, from the Netherlands, photographer: (
www.masque-obscura.nl) and studying to become a biology teacher, I play Go, play around with contact juggling balls and love to ride my motorcycle and pretend to be a mechanic. And most of all, I have a strong passion for music.
I consider myself to be an absolute novice in the gypsy style of guitar playing, even though I have played the guitar for over 13 years in other styles. I'm also quite proficient on the violin and accordeon, on which I play mostly traditional gipsy/balkan and klezmer music, and some folk from France and Scandinavia.
I stopped playing guitar a few years back after being completely fed up with it, I used to play in a metal band at quite a high level, but there came a point where I just didn't connect with my guitar and the music anymore. Sold my stuff, quit the band I was in for 6 years and doing great, focussed on Balkan music and never looked back, until three days ago, when I bought myself a Cigano GJ-15 guitar and a book with music to start out with, and I'm loving it, even though I'm feeling like having to start from scratch again!
