i stole this one from my buddy ritary

it works over Bb7 or E7... and it's all downstrokes

he uses it a lot, and it can especially be seen on the donna lee video, that i masterfully filmed at DFNE 2004....

Speaking of Michael Collins, he's currently in the hospital with colitis. I spoke with him yesterday and he seems to be getting better, but still he's been through the wringer. This post was inyesterday's hot club forum:

Ritary's lick is very cool and - not to be heretical - it is very similar to a lick that Jack Lawrence uses in the stop-time section of the Beaumont Rag with Doc Watson.

Hey Dennis,

You showed us a Ritary lick at the workshop here, but I can't remember it. It was a diminished thing, maybe 3 or 4 notes, very repetitive, and I remember it made everyone smile-it had a kind of humor to it. Any ideas?

depending on the tempo, the bottom B can be U (fast tempo) or D (slow/medium tempo)
