    Thank you all for your comments. I've now got phosphor bronze 10s on her and she sounds much better. The tech who put the strings on after polishing out the nick in the 0 fret said that every creak he heard as he tightened the strings made him nervous. The plastic knob on one of the tuners seems to have been repair once & he was nervous that something, anything, on her was going to crack.

    Now for some polish to clean her up. I'm guessing Brillianize because it's totally non-abrasive. Just some mild soap and water? I'd like to clean and polish. Any other suggestions?
