Cable for Stimer

The cable for my Dupont Stimer 48 has died. I don't own a soldering iron, and don't really know how to fix it. I had a look at it, and it says on the cable that it's a coaxial cable. Looks like an ordinary RCA connection to me (with a jack at the other end). The cable is really thick though...

So...I want to buy a replacement. Does anyone know the difference between coaxial and RCA, and whether if I get a good quality RCA to 1/4 inch lead, it will work as well as the original. Can't seem to find "coaxial to 1/4 inch" cables online...

Sorry for being dumb :)

Jon

ps the original cable has worked its way apart from the connector after barely any use - a bit shabby, methinks.

Michael sells replacement cables for the Dupont Stimers. Various lengths and right angle RCA jack so they don't yank out. Had mine for several years and never had a problem.

I believe that "coaxial" simply means it is shielded around the inner conductor, which most of these types of cables are if that's what you're looking for. There are quite a few options here...you could buy a regular guitar cable with 1/4 jack to 1/4 jack leads, and then simply buy a 1/4 jack to RCA converter. You could also buy audio cables that are already RCA to jack, which usually come with two or three cables connected to one another and then simply tear off one of the cables to use. Needless to say there are many options with something like this. I mention a few of these ways, because they might save you time, money and postage costs. For example, when I needed a cable with a curved RCA jack for my Stimer I just bought a little 90 degree curved RCA converter instead of buying an entirely new cable.

In reality it just comes down to your own need and the convenience of that need, or how much effort you want to put in to having something inexpensive.

Thanks for your help guys. Cable sourced - good quality RCA to Jack. Hope it a)works, and b)lasts longer than the original. Now to try and find an excuse to use the Stimer...and the motivation to leave the house with extra pieces of gear.
