Of course, I should have thought about that, it makes perfect sense now. Just don't try it at home yourselves!

I thought to try it first on the ground...slowly.....unfortunately my hat got crushed

The rakish tilt comes from a snap of his neck when he completes the maneuver - and he does a variation of this where he throws a bottle and a corkscrew into the air before the flip, giving each a hard inward spin... and when he catches it on the other side, the corkscrew is embedded in the cork. He won $150 from Archtop Eddie betting on that trick two years ago.
