Hello people/gypsies,
I've been searching through all the Django records, and there are just so many songs on each one. I can't tell if all the iTunes albums are compilations from different time periods, or just his "hits". Where's a good place to start for Django…? Live in Rome, live in paris/lond, djangology? too many to pick from
Thanks

I'm pretty open as I was just introduced to his music. But, I'm most interested in his pre-gibson L5/Duke period.
Then there's the series called Django Integrale which has 20 sets of 2 CDs (40 CDs total).
Start with the Classic Early Recordings in Chronological order. :-bd
Best $20.00 investment you can make. I love Django in Rome a lot.
@stuart is on the pulse with this stuff JSP Box sets.
If you gotta have it NOW!
I'd pick Djangology. Amazon has MP3 download for $6.99 thats as fast as you can get it.
For $9.99 you can buy the CD and it comes with AUTORIP that means they send you the CD but you can download immediately.

Djangology is a compilation album by Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli, released in 2005.
In 1949, Reinhardt and Grappelli reunited for a brief tour of Italy. While they were there, they recorded about 50 tunes with an Italian rhythm section, and although they didn't know it at the time, these sessions marked the last time the Gypsy guitarist and the French violinist recorded together.
This CD collects 23 of the best tracks from those final sessions, including versions of Hot Club standards like "Minor Swing", "Bricktop", and "Swing '42". Reinhardt died not long after he returned from Italy, so he and Grappelli were never able to continue their musical exploration.[1]
