three note per string pattern

It seems that most three note per string groups are played "down, up, down". With descending runs I have found myself playing "down, down, up". It feels a little less tense, and still allows for the first note on the next string to be a downpick. I always use "down, up, down" for ascending runs since it allows sweeping.

Anyone else do this?

Any thoughts?

Interesting. I've always used down up down. I've heard that Stochelo (and perhaps Django) use down down up on that first bit of rhythm futur (at the 8th and 10th frets on the high E). Which kind of makes sense for speed and fluidity, but it feels awkward when I try it ..
