Gabor Szabo

Is he considered to have been a gypsy guitarist? Is his droning, Middle-Eastern sounding style part of of the gypsy music vernacular?

Does anyone here enjoy and play his music?

I agree with Ted. Alain Antonietto lists 3 recordings of Gabor Szabo in his "Discographie du Jazz Tzigane", but I don´t´know why. I presume it is only because of the titles:

One LP has the title "Gypsy 66" (Impulse AS 9 105).

On another LP ("Rambler", CTI 6 035") there is one title called "Reinhardt".

On another LP he did with Chick Corea ("Femme Fatale" Pepita SLPR 707) there is one title "Zingari".

But I think thats all mainstream stuff, too.

    Best,
