GJ Guitar and Mandolin Techniques Very Similar?

i think this is my first post under the new forum format! haven't been here in a while! Just saw this post which is a bit of coincidence because someone was asking about this on facebook not too long ago, this was my reply (question was "is this a special gypsy technique?")
