True that. Plus wood is a very non-homogenous material and is always full of surprises. It's amazing to me how structurally sound guitars actually are overall.

I tried a Gitane Jorgensen model in Nashville. very disappointed! Guess the higher prices are worth it to get the good stuff.

Charles. I have an alta mira and a dg300 Jorgenson model. The alta mira wipes the floor with the gitane 5 times over. and it plays like a dream when you get it set up properly.

I have an old japanese made M &M by Aria petit bouche that I got for 175 a few years ago. Fretboard was fine but it sounded like it was being played inside the case. Bridge sanding lightening, fiddle here and there and its now a decent sounding, well playing Beach guitar.

Interestingly , the biggest change was going to the Newtone strings. Just enough increase in tension to bring the soundboard to life.

Mostly you get what you pay for, sometimes a little better sometimes a little worse.
The Magic really starts to happen when you can play it with your eyes closed

Yes I bought the guitar here with the setup option.
I took the guitar to a repair shop to a trusted repairman that I used for over a decade and his verdict on this guitar and work done to it wasn't good.
The frets were not properly levelled nor crowned, the truss rod is maxed out, (even to work on the frets it would of been impossible) and if any future truss rod adjustment would of been needed it would not be possible.
The tech confirmed that the guitar and the "work" done on it are really mediocre!
I bought guitars from California, (I'm on the east coast) Spain and never had such issues. Really disappointing!

Hmmm, bummer. I have never run into that issue before. Sounds like a problem at the factory??? I can't think of any reason why it would be that far off on a new guitar. Also, I don't know why the truss rod would be maxed out on a new guitar. Makes no sense at all. Do you mean maxed out tight or loose?

    Return it.
Its a factory instrument they can flip it for another one.
The rules of the road with production run instruments is usually a matter of averages. If you have 10 guitars to choose from of the same model you will find, 3 that are excellent 6 that are average and 1 thats a dog. Speaking generally. Thats how it goes.
The maxed truss rod is one you can't win unless the repair facility has a neck heater which is a method of correcting neck bow thats often used on guitars, instruments with rods especially . If your technician does not know what that is or thinks it won't work, your in the wrong shop.
But under the circumstances you should return the darn thing.

    IMO
