Gypsy Jazz finally comes to WV! Paul Mehling and the group put on a great show tonight. Paul looked incredibly relaxed in his playing. Lots of great ad lib lead work behind the vocals and violin.
Charles, you can see HCSF again in Lynchburg, VA May 10. It is a bit of a drive, 3 1/2 hours, but I can recommend a restaurant or two and a nice hotel. May 10 Lynchburg, VA the Quintet with our “Cinema Vivant” Silent film show@

I've been saying for some time that people should be talking about Paul Mehling. After having heard all the greats at dij 2 years running, he's right there with the best. He emobodies django himself when he plays, and quite frankly, I see that specific quality in very few players.
I don't hesitate saying that, to my ears he's like an American Fappy.

Don't really understand why that is.
Backing a silent art film... haha... that's a great idea!
