Life After Django Reinhardt pays tribute to Django Reinhardt, the Roma genius, born to Gypsy parents in 1910, is considered by many to be the single most important guitarist in the entire history of jazz. To honor the 100th anniversary of Django's birth, one hundred of his disciples, including his grandson David Reinhardt, have gathered together for the “Django 100 Centennial Tour"—traveling the world to pay homage to this exceptional type-setter who marked the 20th century. Hear stories of the influence and passion by some of the more notable jazz guitarists including, Elios and Boulou Ferré, Angelo Debarre and Tchavlo Schmitt, as they prepare for the tour. Listen to the familiar songs performed by these renowned musicians—all of whom have dedicated their lives and their careers to the legend.
I loved it and have watched it at least six times, Great Hearing todays G J Artist Romane, Angelo Debarre, and Tchavlo Schmitt, talk about Django.
If you haven't seen it I'd recommend picking it up. :-c
Sorry for the really delayed reply - not around much anymore, but apologies for being so late. Thanks again for your kindnesses.
Jay, I've got Moreno & Marina, Oscar Aleman, and the Life After Django DVD but sorry, the Stochelo book (w/ CD - the other one is still available) and Rosenbergs with Tim have been sold - sorry for that as well, list is updated. Please let me know what you'd like to do. You can PM me if you'd like, and I promise to do a better job checking in.
FYI, Rosenberg Trio Djangologist CD/DVD and Live at North Sea DVD back on the block. Buyer wasn't happy. I guess the North Sea doesn't play on US DVD machines (I can only say it played on mine - no idea why), so be forewarned. Buyer also said the CD/DVD was scratched, but he must have better eyes than me. I honestly can't see anything, and nor can several others I asked to look at it. Anyway, he asked me to warn people, so, please be warned.
I know some LG dvd players will play PAL DVDs although manufacturer states they are region 1 only.
Some other DVD players brands can be flashed with different firmware to make it "all region" players.
As for CDs, also some higher end players have laser readers with tighter tolerance and are picky as to what they will play.
So the buyer may be telling the truth that the stuff didn't work on his equipment but that doesn't mean that you sold him junk either.
As a precaution you can clean both with a toothpaste or a car rubbing compound; put a smidgen of either on the disc, rub with a cloth (microfiber or glass lens cloth or similar) and remove any leftovers with a clean side.
That will remove fine scratches and clean as well so you've done everything you can on your end to make sure the discs will play on equipment other than yours.
