I started taking Gypsy Jazz seriously about 10 months ago, I am or was basically a smooth jazz player and still remain close to those roots. I want to post where I am now at. I want to thank Michael, Denis and Bones for their help along the way, of course if you don't like this stuff you can blame them...:). Solo guitar has warts but its a single take...Funk Django is what it is.
edit....on another note Funk Django makes Billboards (BDS) most added list one week before it is supposed to be released...will be interesting if a pseudo Gypsy Jazz piece makes it on contemporary radio. I'll be updating its progress if it is worth noting.

You get a very nice tone and are playing really well, hope you stick with GJ.
Nice Job Craig Thanks for posting
You Shelly Park sounds really great.

w3hs, I guess that would be up to Adrian, but I am good with that. Coincidently I'll be in Chicago in 3 weeks for a family visit.
Hey Buco, it wouldn't go on my long term list either if I were any self respecting Gypsy guitarist...:), that said I am not. I figured there are guys who have been playing this stuff since they were 5 and as a guy in his 50's I'll never catch up so I try find things people have not done before whether it is a good idea or not. As long as I am having fun and my health maintains I'll keep trying to improve.
Hey Jon, thanks for the props, I have stolen some things from your vids btw, nice stuff. The guitar as mentioned by John is a Park, but to be more specific it is a Modele Montmare which a Favino sized guitar. It has cocobolo (whatever that is) back and sides. wow I actually kind of sound like I know what I am talking about. you probably didn't need to know this but I used Bone's Patenotte for some of the basic rhythm on Funk Django. It is the driest guitar I have heard, that said I've probably only played about 15 Gypsy guitars and most for a few minutes. I need to make it to a fest.
Thanks John, still have the Manouche and like it, nice to have options.

By the way, Adrian created Soundslice as open for users themselves to transcribe the music and input into it so all you need is time and will to do it.
Buco
Try picking closer to the bridge to get a bit more powerful tone, but that's a preference thing, the playing was really really good regardless.
Amund, thanks for the listen...
I'll try picking closer to the bridge, I do do that when comping and soloing, my concern is I will lose some of the roundness of tone when doing this kind of solo work.
