Hi everyone,
I'm considering getting a Dupont in the near future and I'm curious about all the different models. Are the more expensive ones, i.e.; Hot Club, Vieille Reserve Brazilian, more expensive because of aesthetic reasons or are they really that much better guitars compared to an MD-60? I'm wondering because a Gibson L5 is basically the same guitar as an L7, except it is just more "dressed up" and it can sometimes go for twice the price of an L7.

1) They have a 40 year aged top which gives them a maturity of tone you normally only get from a seasoned vintage instrument. Instruments built with greener woods sound relatively duller and less mature by comparison.
2) They have a heat bent pliage top which is the method Selmer used. Most other contemporary guitars, including the MD series guitars, have a forced bent top which doesn't position the apex of the top under the bridge. The pliage tops are snappier, louder, and have a faster attack.
I hope that helps...
