I noticed that this has solid walnut back and sides. How does that compare with laminated back and sides, as far as the tone and projection go?


Also, how would you describe the action and playability?

The sound and projection are both excellent. There is a tad more complexity to the sound but the projection and volume is on par with traditional construction. The action is at about 3.5mm and is adjustable via included rosewood shims. It is very comfortable to play as the neck has more modern profile. Thank you for your questions.

I know that all instruments are different, so how does this particular grande bouche, D-hole, do with playing lead, versus rhythm playing? Is this stronger as a lead, or as a rhythm guitar?

It handles both very well so I would consider it a great all around instrument. The tone for Rhythm is full and the lead cuts through very nice. You can also get very sweet tones using the proper technique.

Is this USA made? How old is it?

It is USA made (The label has printed "Handcrafted in USA by John Kinard) . I am not sure of the exact age as I purchased it used from Elderly Instruments somewhere around 2007 or so as far as I recall.

Serial # has 07 0?

The first two is the year
Second two would be the month
Third batch of numbers would be the count number of the guitar.
