Very interesting: is this a "Djangoid" guitar, i.e. built like an archtop and shaped like a GJ guitar, or is the construction more traditional to Selmers and alike?
I remember Frank Vignola saying that he would not trade his Thorell for any Benedetto. His guitars are beautiful, he's a real jewelry maker.
It is does have a pliage top and is generally pretty close to the Selmer design. Very different from Benedetto's Gypsy models which are just a variation of his usual carved top designs.
Having played a couple of Ryan's guitars, including Frank Vignola's personal one, I can attest that these are nearly flawless instruments. My instructor has a FV model and Frank even commented on how much Ryan has improved since he took delivery of his personal guitar. That's saying something to me.
