Wow, the "Michel Ferret" thread certainly took a direction I didn't expect...

Continuing along the via esoterica:

Does anyone know whether Sarane Ferret had any children? Dregni's bio says he married Gusti Malha's daughter, Poupee, but doesn't mention any. I'm guessing there weren't any to mention.

Also, Dregni says Rene' 'Challain' Ferret "followed Matelo's path playing traditional Tzigane music. Throughout the 1950's, he accompanied accordionist Andrew Verchuren and Gypsy violinist Yoska Nemeth. He married a Toulouse woman and moved to the Midi, where he continued to perform" (270). Are there any recordings of this fellow?

I'm also interested in a gadjo guitarist named Jean-Pierre Sasson. Does anyone have the "Hommage a Django Reinhardt" album from 1955, on which he plays "Minor Swing"? Dregni speaks highly of his solo.

Speaking of the Corsican guitar tradition, does anyone know why Dregni would have written that the club "Au Son des Guitares" in Marseilles was "infamous"?

Ted, do any recordings exist by Tony Fallone? Tchan-Tchou accompanied him.

I'm also interested whether anyone has recordings by Armand 'Archange' Stenegry -- Dregni says he penned some hymns with manouche-style instrumentation. They were recorded?

And last, has the mysterious Jacques Montagne ever resurfaced?

Tony Fallone is still around. He just released an album on Chant du Monde called "Accordeon mon ami." The percussionist on the CD has a couple of cheesy wind chime moments, but apart from that, it's an excellent album.

You find this recording on a double CD on the "Swing" Label. It is called "Jazz et Cordes - "Hot Strings" (1929-1961)" SW08. 856 465. It was released in 1997 and I don´t know if it is still available.

Hi,

Saw Laro Sollero's name mentioned earlier in this thread. He seems like a very intriguing figure after reading Alain Antonietto's recollection in the "Illustrated History of Gypsy Jazz", i.e. a Gypsy player with a highly modern style, inspired by Tal Farlow and Jimmy Raney, as well as René Thomas, who was a friend, and a great influence on Boulou and Babik.

Apparently he never recorded commercially, but private recordings exist. Has anyone heard them, or have any more info? TIA.
