Yeah the video is lame... The samples do play with Real Tracks, but not for the solo and melody parts. Is there even a way to get solo midi to playback with Real Tracks? I haven't figured it out.
I'm looking for some tabbed out Django where I can slow things down and loop until I get things right. This looks like the perfect tool. Unless someone tells me there's something better that will do this, $87 doesn't seem too terrible.
1 Are the songs already programed in real box styles or you just choose the real style to play it?
2 Did you ever figure out how to get the solo's to be real tracks?
3 Do you feel it is the
Perfect Tool
Love to hear your thoughts after giving it a go,
Thanks
1 - the songs play directly in Gypsy Jazz Realband styles. As long you have these installed I imagine.
2 - No and after doing some research on this is, it doesn't seem possible with just Band in a box. The issue is that RealBand solos are just pre-recorded licks in different keys. The program will play these licks based on the style and chords played.
The solos are direct midi. The purpose is getting the notes and timing, so it doesn't bother me if it sounds like midi.
3 - Haven't had much time yet, but I think it will help me progress much faster. I can take any phrase of a solo, slow it down to a crawl and have it loop over and over again. Once I get it, I speed it up. And finally, once I know the solo, I mute it and play along with RealBand.
For me looking at TABS and listening to a MP3 and having it repeat was good, but not ideal. Being able to see how the timing of the phrase works in Band in a Box and slow it down has help me so much.
The video has an index in the beginning to help you find what you want,
also the files are "real tracks" compatible and they load the right real tracks for the song, as for the melody/solo channel, I had the same problem of finding an instrument to play like Gypsy sound should be.
So I've made "DiaB" a very high quality Sound Library of my Castelluccia Sweet Chorus (2004) able to reproduce the sound as "vst plug in" at melody channel just visit "djangoinabox.com" and contact me for any further details.

But see here, it may be possible with the correct midi sampler
