iReal Pro for free! (usually costs $11)

The Amazon app store has iReal Pro for free today through Friday as part of some bunch-of-free-apps sale.

If you have an Android phone or tablet then by all means "purchase" this. It usually costs $11 and is the most useful practice and performance tool you can find. Honestly, even if you haven't bought a tablet yet or use an iPad I'd say get this just so you have it in case you decide to get an Android tablet in the future.

Once you have it installed you can go to the Forum tab within the app and search for Gypsy Jazz and install 375 GJ charts and thousands of standards.

Note: this freebie is for Android so this deal won't help you if you have an iPad or iPhone.

@rgrice, make sure there are thirty or forty styles to choose from if you play along with it (the GJ style needs to be redone because the 2 and 4 are too loud but still). Apart from that just load it up with all the useful charts you can find on the Forum. 1300 Jazz Standards, as well as Real Books 1 2 and 3 and the latin stuff.

My other bit of advice is don't make a habit of always having it in front of you at gigs. It can become a bit of a crutch so it's better to use it for playlists and rep building and then get out of the chart as soon as you're comfortable.

@MattHenry, Thanks a lot! Too late! I've already gotten overly used to tablet songbook (Setlist Helper, really good). I do vocal versions of this stuff and at my age
With 100s of song lyrics and chords in my head, I'm not sure I could survive a gig without it. Never needed it till I hit 50 or so!
This is a great resource and price!

@MattHenry came upon you on YouTube and stuff with your band. Very nice! Love the Minor Swing/I Will Survive medley. Your approach is similar to what my band has been clumsily transitioning to from all rockabilly via western swing. I'm still a newbie at this style.

@Franz Morales it should be on the bottom of each chart. You tap something that says "Jazz - Medium Swing" by default and then you can select from a list. I think there's just under 40 styles to choose from.
