You might want to try Newtone Archtop strings . Not as brash as brass strings with a deeper bass, great loud acoustic tone and double wound bass strings with a nice soft feel . Tried them all , always come back to Newtones.
He was right, pulled out my Old Audio-Technica PRO 70 mic seems to really get that TRUE ARCHTOP TONE just dialing in the sweet spot right now. I Believe for small Club, Restaurants, and Parties it will would fine. I do like that I can use it on my other guitars also.
@Buco is sending me a Krivo Single Coil to test out so I'm gonna be using what I got right now.
What guage do you use and what Guitars do you use them on. They seem to be a much heavier string actually saw a set of 14's. I don't want to over-weight the top. I think the 13's may be my next try.
Newtones are great strings for sure. I use them on my Dobro. Still have a number of sets. I wish their GJ strings weren't so high tension

@pickitjohn , The Djangobucker works great with the old Epi. I used it on a Gypsy Jazz gig in a noisy restaurant with great results. It is not as fat as the Dearmond, but it did the job for sure. It won't ever buzz, and could even be used with Bronze strings. And it looks good...go for it.

The Newtone Archtops are double wound nickel and very soft to the touch , and work great with magnetic pickups while giving a loud mellow acoustic tone. They are not the Newtone Gypsy Jazz strings and are in no way related to them in construction or feel . I play the 13s for Freddie Green style comping otherwise stick with the 12s , Last change I left the E A and D from the 13s on with the 12 tops , Wishing they had a mixed set . Here's a good review of them, Lovely Strings. http://jazzguitarscene.wordpress.com/2011/05/09/review-–-“newtone-archtop”-series-strings/
