I've got some D'Addario Chromes (11s) on two different electric guitars for years without changing - I haven't noticed any deterioration in brightness since maybe the first or second week. I just got some Philippe Bosset strings for my Del Arte DG-H1, but I haven't put them on yet. As far as Argentines go, I blew out a G string in about 5 hours of playing. I replaced that with a 0.024 nickel wound electric guitar string, which shows no fret wear at all after many hours of play.
