Ultrafox playing C-Jam Blues with Stimers/Drums/Sax

Hey guys,

One more video for you - another band I play in: Peter Baylor's Ultrafox. This band comes in a few combinations, but on this night it was 2 guitars with stimers (1 guzz, 1 dupont), bass, horn and drums. Getting close to swing jazz at a gig for swing dancers. The drummer is a living legend for old time swing in Australia - Lyn Wallace. Pete's one of the most consistently inventive players I know too. Anyway, here's C-Jam blues. My solo's in there somewhere as well, for what it's worth. Enjoy!

Smokin'! I love the 'fuzz' of those pickups. What amps?

I think Pete is using his old Gibson amp, though he's got a bunch of old tube ones that he rotates a bit. Mine's just a blues jnr tweed.

How do you like playing rhythm thru the pickup? Do you mess with the volume when switching between lead and rhythm?

Once I settle on a volume, I try to stick to it and just play rhythm a lot lighter. A bit of up and down is inevitable though I suppose. With a drummer I don't really do the pompe - more a straight beat, so the pickup rhythm sound is, shall we say," less not ideal" in that situation than it can sound in a more hot cluby thing
