@ Karen: Bireli talks about Avaks custom guitars, that are being made in Kiev, Ukraine by luthiers. They make different kinds of guitars. I own a great Archtop they made- completely hand-carved, I love both the looks and sound of it. If you're interested , I remember that Andreas Oberg played one of their instruments at one part of the same festival with Lush Life band on stage, there should be a video on YouTube somewhere:) Michael.
Hey Lango-Django!
Yes DIJ was so great for me, hope I can go again next year..
A few years back i was traveling trough Mexico and i met a guy that played GJ, I've always been into music, mostly jazz, mostly acoustic.. so as you can imagine it hit me instantly when i heard it, and so i started searching for Django's music and found it!
Then i met BluesBob Harry indeed! Haha
He was my skype teacher for a year, great teacher!
Hi @euryleia and welcome to the forum. We have a great group of people here. GJ on mandolin. Not many yet who are into it so you are somewhat of a trailblazer.
The Magic really starts to happen when you can play it with your eyes closed

Sometime you should do a posting about how a young Mexican lady got started playing GJ.
Do you know BluesBop Harry in Mexico City?

I seem to recall Smith College (it's held there this year; not sure about other years) is a women's liberal arts college.
That may not be the reason for the demographic observation.
I don't remember what I had for breakfast sometimes, but remember odds & ends like this.

I am thinking of going to DIJ, just trying to balace it with my work schedule. I love Joscho's style and sound, and would love to see him play live.
