Does anyone know anything about a possible Parisian luthier by the name of A. Curtil. I found an interesting guitar labelled as such and decided to dig further. I read somewhere, on a French website that he was a luthier employed by Busato but elsewhere I have found mentions of an Italian made mandolin with the label of a sole distributor 'A. Curtil - Neuilly sur Seine' and other references to 19th century violins. Then there was an A Curtil listed as a piano maker at 65 and later 70 Boulevard St Germain who was a distributor for Bechsteinway pianos. All of this evidence would seem to indicate that Curtil was a retailer, already established before Busato came to France, so is it possible the French reference was misinformed and in fact rather than being a luthier Curtil sold Busato made guitars under his own name?
