I hooked up with a bud in Philly today (I'm on the Left Coast)....felt about 100 milisecs of delay, impressive but not useful. Still could be user error but that's my experience so far.

I tried it with another friend in Denver and it was still unacceptable latency. Both of us have relatively slow upload speeds so that may be a factor. Anyway, my verdict is this is not ready for primetime yet.

I'm curious, what are your upload speeds?
On their website they say 250kbps upload/download per participant. So with 1Mbps upload there should be plenty of bandwidth for even a 3 person session. Or is your latency too high? They list 25ms as optimal.
